Explained on 26 October 2026. This is an educational answer drawn from the dated article below; examples are hypothetical unless a specific source observation is identified.
How it works
This is especially important around new listings, benchmark changes and symbol transitions. The scheme’s actual portfolio record and its observation date are stronger evidence than a search that returns no result. Missing data should not make an exposure calculation appear more complete than its inputs.
A simple example
A hypothetical dashboard uses last month’s file while a fund acquires a new listing this month. The old file cannot confirm the current position is zero. The correct output is limited by the available snapshot, with the new disclosure checked when available.
What to check
- Check the underlying portfolio date and coverage.
- Search the security identifier as well as its name.
- Keep unconfirmed exposure distinct from measured zero.
