Explained on 26 October 2026. This is an educational answer drawn from the dated article below; examples are hypothetical unless a specific source observation is identified.

How it works

The measures can also differ in dates and instrument scope. Funds receive other subscriptions and redemptions, hold cash and deploy money at different times. A valid bridge needs those movements rather than a sum of large headline numbers. The same caution applies when trying to derive AUM from trading flows alone.

A simple example

Hypothetically, ₹100 enters a fund through SIPs and ₹80 is later used in purchases captured by an institutional measure. Calling ₹180 two independent sources of support counts part of the same money twice. The remaining cash and other flows still need reconciliation.

What to check

  • Separate contributions, redemptions, cash and execution.
  • Match periods and instrument universes.
  • Do not add overlapping funding and trading measures.
