Official review: 9 October 2026 · Effective date: 12 October. NSE’s ASM–IBC annexure lists five Stage I inclusions: Aban Offshore, Ankit Metal & Power, Reliance Infrastructure, Simbhaoli Sugars and Vivimed Labs. The package records no exclusions or movements between Stages I and II. This is a dated trading-surveillance update. It should not be rewritten as an announcement of five new court admissions, liquidation orders or shareholder payouts.

NSE says shortlisting under the ASM–IBC measure is on account of market surveillance and should not be construed as an adverse action against the company. The circular also says other prevailing surveillance measures can operate alongside this framework.
Separate the exchange record from the legal record
A company can issue a disclosure about a legal development, and the exchange can respond within its surveillance framework. Those are separate steps with separate dates and documents. A reader should connect them only using actual evidence.
The exact parties and legal entity matter. A listed parent, a subsidiary, a guarantor and another group company are not interchangeable. A claim involving one entity should not be transferred to another merely because they share a brand or appear in the same business group.
Likewise, a filed application, an admitted proceeding, an appeal and an approved resolution describe different stages. This article does not infer any one of those legal outcomes from the workbook. The relevant formal order is needed before publishing a case-specific conclusion.
The residual-value calculation explains equity sensitivity
Consider a deliberately simplified business with assets worth 100 units and claims of 80. Its arithmetic residual is 20. If the assets are worth 90 with the same claims, the residual is 10. At 80, the residual is zero. If asset value falls to 70, the 80-unit claims exceed the assets in this simplified calculation.
These are invented values and are not financial statements for any company in the list. The example omits costs, legal priorities, security interests and the terms of any actual resolution. It is a balance-sheet sensitivity, not a legal distribution model.
Equity is sensitive to the value left after claims
illustrative residual units · Illustrative data
| Label | Value (illustrative residual units) |
|---|---|
| Assets 100 · claims 80 | 20 |
| Assets 90 · claims 80 | 10 |
| Assets 80 · claims 80 | 0 |
| Assets 70 · claims 80 | 0 |
A 10% change in asset value in the first step halves the arithmetic residual. That shows why equity can be much more sensitive than the asset total. The traded share price, however, can also reflect expectations about future earnings, financing and legal outcomes. A simple book calculation is not a price target.
A plan to continue the business can change ownership economics
A business may continue operating under a financing or restructuring arrangement while the economic position of existing shareholders changes. Continuing operations and preserving the same per-share claim are different outcomes. Any actual change must be read from the documented terms.
New capital can affect the number of shares, obligations and ownership percentages. Asset sales and liability settlements can have their own accounting effects. An investor should not assume that continued activity automatically preserves the value of the original holding.
At the same time, it is unreliable to assume a zero outcome from a surveillance stage alone. The article’s purpose is to identify the evidence needed for a specific assessment, while keeping the exchange update within its actual scope.
The questions a careful reader should ask
What entity and proceeding does the relevant disclosure concern? What does the formal order actually decide? Is there a later appeal, stay or revised order? What liabilities, assets and proposed ownership terms are documented? These questions help organise the record without guessing the outcome.
Dates are essential because an older case summary can be overtaken by a later development. Keep a short chronology of the formal documents. Distinguish management’s statement from the actual text of an order where both are available.
| Record | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Exchange annexure | The stated surveillance classification and date |
| Company disclosure | The company’s dated account of a development |
| Formal legal order | The actual decision and its scope |
| Financial statements and terms | The assets, claims and ownership economics being assessed |
Trading access still needs an operational check
Verify current series, applicable controls and settlement arrangements through the exchange material and the broker. Do not import a margin percentage from another framework simply because both notices contain the word ASM. The precise provisions and stage requirements need their own official basis.
Position size and the investor’s need for cash matter when liquidity is uncertain. A displayed last price does not ensure an executable sale for the full holding. These practical considerations are separate from the legal assessment of the company.
The new event is the five Stage I inclusions recorded in this official package. The reader’s advantage is to preserve the boundary between surveillance, legal status and shareholder economics, then require the right document for each conclusion.
