About MF Analyser

What is MF Analyser, and what can it actually do?

Written by MF Analyser · last checked 3 October 2026

MF Analyser is an Indian mutual fund research tool. It computes risk, return and portfolio measures for 8,564 schemes from AMFI's published NAV, shows what each fund holds from the AMCs' monthly disclosures, and analyses your own portfolio from a CAS upload. It does not sell funds and does not recommend them.

In one paragraph

MF Analyser takes two public datasets — AMFI's daily NAV for every Indian mutual fund, and the portfolios AMCs are required to disclose each month — and turns them into the measures a returns table leaves out: risk-adjusted return, rolling returns, drawdown, benchmark-relative behaviour, and what the funds actually hold. Then it lets you point the same machinery at your own portfolio.

What is on the site

  • Fund Research — one scheme, every measure: CAGR per window, rolling returns, Sharpe, Sortino, standard deviation, maximum drawdown with its dates and recovery time, beta, alpha, up and down capture, calendar-year returns, and the disclosed portfolio.
  • Compare — funds side by side, with pairwise portfolio overlap and the stocks they share.
  • Screener — filter and sort the whole universe on any measure.
  • Fund Ranking — categories ordered by return, window stated.
  • Portfolio Analysis — upload your CAS; the portfolio is measured as a single fund, looked through to the companies, and checked for overlap and concentration.
  • Calculators — SIP, lumpsum, SWP, XIRR, retirement.
  • Learn — these pages.

What it costs

Fund research, comparison, the screener, rankings, the calculators and these pages are free. Reading your CAS is free. Analysing an uploaded portfolio is paid, because it is the expensive part to run:

LevelPriceWhat it adds
Snapshot₹19What you hold and how it is split
Deep₹39The portfolio's own return, risk and drawdown
Complete₹49Look-through: companies, sectors, overlap
Workspace₹99Rebalancing, saved reports, exports
Firm₹999/moUnlimited client portfolios, for advisory firms

Moving up a level later costs the difference plus ₹5, not the full price again. A saved report can be re-run without limit and cannot be deleted.

Who it is for

Beginners — every measure carries a one-line explanation where it is shown, so you are not expected to arrive knowing what Sortino means. The calculators and the fund pages are usable on day one.

Experienced investors — every measure states its window, its risk-free rate and its benchmark, so you can check the arithmetic rather than trust it. Nothing is a black box.

Advisers and firms — client portfolios scoped per account, staff seats with a per-seat report quota, saved reports and exports.

What makes it different

Three things, stated as plainly as they deserve:

  • It sells nothing. You cannot buy a fund here and nothing on the site earns a commission on what you choose. That is why there is no "recommended" list — there is nothing to recommend for.
  • The method is published. Every figure states its window, its as-of date and its benchmark. A return without a date is a forecast in disguise, and we treat it as a bug.
  • It refuses to compute things that would be meaningless. Debt funds get no equity beta or alpha. A fund too young for a window shows "—" and not a number built from four points. A fund house that has filed no portfolio shows as missing, not as zero.

What it is not

MF Analyser is not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser or Research Analyst. It does not recommend funds, publish "best fund" lists, or give star ratings. It does not execute transactions. It does not hold expense ratios, AUM or portfolio turnover. Nothing on the site is investment advice.

Also asked

Does MF Analyser provide overlap analysis?

Yes — pairwise overlap by disclosed portfolio weight, on the compare page for funds you pick and across every pair you hold in portfolio analysis, with the shared stocks listed.

Does it provide rolling returns?

Yes, computed daily rather than monthly — over 3,000 overlapping one-year windows for a fund with a full history, reported as worst, median, best and the share of windows that lost money.

Can it analyse SIP performance?

Yes. Each fund carries a recorded SIP outcome on its own NAV path, and the XIRR calculator takes your real instalment dates for your own SIP.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes — measures are explained where they appear rather than in a glossary somewhere else. The one thing it will not do for a beginner is tell them which fund to buy.

An answer you cannot check is just an opinion. These are the pages where the same thing is shown on live data.

MF Analyser is not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser or Research Analyst. Nothing above is advice or a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Every figure is arithmetic on AMFI's published NAV and the portfolios the AMCs file. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks; read all scheme related documents carefully.
