Portfolio Analysis & Pulse

What are MF Analyser Portfolio Analysis and Portfolio Pulse, and how do they work together?

Written by MF Analyser · last checked 26 October 2026

Portfolio Analysis reads your CAS statement and turns every mutual fund you hold into one review: value, return, risk, allocation and the companies underneath. Portfolio Pulse keeps that saved portfolio under watch: what changed inside your funds month by month, overlap, SIP tracking, your own alerts, rebalance scenarios and downloadable reports.

Two products, two questions

Portfolio Analysis answers “what does my portfolio look like today?” Portfolio Pulse answers “what has changed since, and what needs my attention?” They work on the same saved portfolio, so the second picks up where the first stops.

What Portfolio Analysis shows you

  • Everything together. Every scheme from every fund house on your statement, with units, value and cost exactly as the registrar printed them — nothing re-priced or rounded.
  • Your money’s return, not the fund’s. A cash-flow (XIRR) return built from your dated purchases, SIPs and redemptions.
  • Risk in plain terms. Volatility, deepest fall and recovery for the portfolio as one blended series.
  • Look-through. The companies and sectors your funds own, added up across all of them, and where two funds repeat each other.
  • A report you keep. A printable A4 report that you can re-run later at no further charge.

What Portfolio Pulse adds

  • What changed underneath. Compare accepted month-end disclosures over 1, 2 or 3 months: new and absent holdings, stock-weight shifts, sector direction.
  • Overlap and simplification. A fund-overlap matrix, the largest underlying holdings and disclosed sector exposure, with a trim or removal scenario you can preview.
  • Returns, risk and allocation. Fund-house and category allocation, fund-by-fund performance and the most correlated fund pairs.
  • Your SIPs and transactions. Register running SIPs, add confirmed transactions, keep a history.
  • Alerts you choose. Thresholds for large monthly fund changes, fund-house concentration, stale NAVs, missing filings or SIP payments awaiting confirmation — in a private inbox, with optional email to your own address.
  • Decision Lab. Save your current mix against an alternative with the same starting money and contributions, and revisit it at 30, 90 or 180 days.

What using it is like

You upload one statement and see your whole portfolio on one screen within a minute. A folio the reader cannot fully parse is shown in red rather than silently dropped — you decide whether to include it or type in the missing ISIN, and one awkward folio never hides the rest of the portfolio. Figures carry their dates: a NAV mark, a monthly filing and a saved comparison each say when they are from. Where the evidence is incomplete — a missing filing, a gap in cash-flow history — the page shows the gap instead of guessing a number.

What it deliberately does not do

It does not place trades, does not recommend a fund to buy or sell, and does not promise a better return. MF Analyser is an educational research platform, not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser or Research Analyst. The tools organise the evidence; the decision stays with you.

Where the data comes from

Daily NAVs from AMFI. Underlying holdings from the fund houses’ own monthly portfolio disclosures — currently 54 fund houses and 2,465 disclosed portfolios, newest filing 30 September 2026. Your own statement is read only to build your analysis and is scoped to the account that uploaded it.

Also asked

Do I need Portfolio Analysis before I can use Portfolio Pulse?

Pulse works on a saved portfolio, and the usual way to create one is a CAS import in Portfolio Analysis. Once the portfolio is saved, Pulse can follow it without re-uploading the statement.

Is Portfolio Pulse included in the Pro or Advisor plan?

Not automatically. Pulse is a separate, account-managed access path today; a Pro or Advisor research purchase on its own does not confirm Pulse access. The workspace never creates an automatic recurring debit.

Can MF Analyser see or move my money?

No. It reads a statement you upload. It has no access to your broker, bank or registrar account and cannot place, change or cancel any transaction.

Is my CAS statement stored or shared?

It is read to produce your analysis, and the portfolio is scoped to the account that uploaded it. Report generation happens on this site; your portfolio is not sent to an outside PDF service.

Does Portfolio Pulse tell me which fund to sell?

No. It shows overlap, concentration and what changed, and lets you preview a scenario. A low-change scenario is not a recommendation to sell — costs, tax, non-equity holdings and your own goals still decide.

How current is the data in Portfolio Analysis and Pulse?

NAVs update daily from AMFI. Underlying holdings update when fund houses publish their month-end portfolios, usually within ten days of month end. Every figure carries its own date.

Can I use Portfolio Analysis on my phone?

Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone or a computer; there is nothing to install. The printable report is designed for A4 and reads best on a larger screen or on paper.

What happens if my CAS has a folio the tool cannot read?

That folio is highlighted in red with the reason, and the rest of the portfolio still loads. You decide whether to include it, or type in the ISIN yourself.
